Bride of the Fat White Vampire
Fox also explores the role love and friendship has in defining our view of good vs. evil. (Spoiler Alert: skip this paragraph if you don't want to know the ending) Jules readily identifies murder and disfigurement as evil when practiced by strangers or those he already hates, but when he suspects a close friend and mentor may have murdered and disfigured the young vampires he is supposed to protect, he finds himself trying to justify the crime. When he has the opportunity to save the life of his vampire girlfriend by sacrificing those same young vampires he was hired to protect, he readily agrees by justifying that they were evil people. This is in contrast to Jules' human friend, Erato. Erato is shocked to find out Jules is a vampire and the murderer of many of the homeless people that Erato has often mourned not out of close friendship but human kindness. Erato sticks by his friend Jules out of loyalty and obligation, but never accepts Jules' actions as justified.
A minor criticism of Fox's novel is it's reliance upon characters introduced in Fat White Vampire Blues. A few new characters are introduced, but the bulk of the story is carried by repeat characters from the first novel, even characters thought to be dead.

Andrew Fox has succeeded in overcoming a sophomore jinx by writing a successful second novel. The supporting characters in Bride of the Fat White Vampire are fleshed out more than in the first novel and are given their own depth. Fox also expands upon the already rich vampire mythos he created in Fat White Vampire Blues. On top of all that, Fox has written a true mystery that holds surprises for the reader all the way to the end.
