In the Dark by Ruth Stone
She presents her life as a process within a larger process she hardly understands, but with which she is in harmony. She moves with the flow of time, unattached to any condition or situation. Phase-change has always been her way of being in the world:

"Once a stick who was tired
of being beaten against everything
lay down on the fagot pile.
'Let me ascend to heaven,' it snarled.
Presently the wood smoke rose
from the poet's chimney. (Cause and Effect)"

And yet, one hopes Ruth Stone will rage against the dying of the light.
