Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight
From Rhodesia's Burma Valley, Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight tracks the Fullers through devastating tragedy and resulting depression; their political journey takes them through civil war and independence; and we follow them geographically from Rhodesia to Malawi to Zambia.

It would be rude of me to detail further the events of Alexandra Fuller's childhood. It is, after all, the palpable detail of Fuller's descriptions and the childlike innocence of her voice that compel the reader effortlessly through her history. And it's this history, rife with political turmoil and personal hardship that makes Don't Lets Go to the Dogs Tonight a memoir of profound impact, opening the reader's mind to a fresh perspective on life's challenges. Because it's hard to take seriously the minor irritations of a more comfortable life while reading about life-threatening adversity and constant struggle.
