The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is sure to find itself on high-school reading lists in years to come (possibly set as a companion/comparison reading to Daniel Keyes' Flowers for Algernon), and the spot is well deserved. Christopher is an unforgettable character, so deep and rich that Haddon's book reaches that rare point where a novel moves outside the realm of fiction. Yes, Christopher is a creation, but his affliction is a very real one. Haddon, who according to his bio, has worked with autistic children in the past has done a wonderful job of giving the reader a glimpse inside autism, and all the while packaging within the pages of a clever, intelligent, and touching novel.
