Roberto Bolano's unfinished novel Woes of the True Policeman follows a tight orbit around his epic masterwork 2666. Further developing a range shared characters and settings, Woes of the True Policeman is an asset to Bolano fans but is unlikely to stand up on its own to a newcomer.
