Laura Bush's Book Deal
Scribner announced this week that it will be publishing first lady Laura Bush's memoirs, following a tradition that has included memoirs from Hillary Clinton, Betty Ford, Nancy Reagan, Rosalynn Carter, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
"As a rare witness to the private moments of one of our country's most consequential presidencies, and as a first lady who has maintained a notable level of discretion, her memoir will provide a candid and personal perspective, and an enduring record, of the years that have already determined the court of the 21st century," said Susan Maldow, Scribner's executive vice president.
It seems that publishers are more anxious to publish Laura Bush's memoirs than those of President George W. Bush, which is unsurprising given his low public approval rating. The details of the first lady's book deal are unclear, but it is thought that she will get at least the $8m that Hillary Clinton was paid for Living History. Read more at the Guardian.
