Oprah's Book Club Pick: The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

Oprah's Book Club chose The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski this past Friday, a novel about which Stephen King said, "it is a deeply American work of literature. It's a novel about the human heart, and the mysteries that live there, understood but impossible to articulate."
Edgar Sawtelle lives on a Wisconsin farm with his parents and the dogs they breed. Born mute, Edgar communicates mainly by sign language and mainly with his own dog and best friend, Almondine. Life is good - prior to the arrival of Edgar's Uncle Claude, after which the story proceeds like Hamlet in Wisconsin.

If the almighty goddess, Oprah, says I must read the books then I must. After all she is a Goddess and we, her people, are mere peons.
Just hard to believe anyone that love dogs would like the book. Oprah went on and on about the book being so good would like to know how she came to think it was good.
