Oprah picks Holocaust Memoir

Monday January 16, 2006

In the wake of the Million Little Pieces controversy, Oprah has announced her latest book club selection: Night, Elie Wiesel's autobiographical account of life in the Auschwitz and Buschenwald death camps. In addition to the book club pick, Oprah also annouced a high school essay contest for Night.

Wiesel's memoir was originally penned in 1955. This new translation from the original Yiddish by the author's wife, Marion Wisel, is being published in hardcover by Farrar, Straus & Giroux this month.
