Saul Bellow (1915 - 2005)

Saul Bellow died at the age of 89 yesterday in his home in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Among the most celebrated writers of the 20th century, Bellow was known for writing about everyman. His primary characters were often unlucky in life, and flawed in their characters. Saul Bellow was the recipient of three National Book Awards and one Pulitzer Prize. In 1976, he became the seventh American author to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
