March 26 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of literature and film's greatest influences, Joseph Campbell. Campbell embraced the power of myth as a child and never let go. He authored numerous books on mythology, including his most celebrated The Hero with a Thousand Faces (1972). His teachings not only influenced writers, filmakers, and artists of all kinds, they also informed psychologists who found Campbell's studys useful in helping people find meaning in their lives.
