Former GE CEO, Jack Welch still Winning
Saturday February 14, 2004
Former General Electric CEO, Jack Welch, is back at the writing table. This time, he's writing a how-to book entitled Winning with Suzy Wetlaufer, former Harvard Business Review editor and Welch's fiancee.
"Winning is a book for the people in business who sweat, get their nails dirty, hire, fire, make hard decisions, and pay the price when those decisions are wrong," said Welch.
One of the most highly-respected CEO's, Jack Welch retired from GE in 2001. His work at GE made it one of the most successful companies ever and subsequently made Welch a highly sought author. Jack Welch's previous two memoirs, Jack: Straight from the Gut and Jack Welch & The G.E. Way were best-sellers. For Winning, Welch cut a $4 million deal with HarperCollins, as compared with the $7.1 million advanced from Time Warner for Jack: Straight from the Gut.
