Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides

Jeffrey Eugenides' first novel, The Virgin Suicides, has been translated into fifteen languages and made into a feature film. Middlesex, published in 2002, met with similar acclaim.

Middlesex traces an abnormal hermaphroditic gene through the generations of one Greek family and alighting upon " a girl named Callie and the man named Cal who she is to become."
